About the Book
When author Dale Anthony was first diagnosed with HIV, the doctor told him he wouldn’t last through a year. Twenty-five years later, he is still living life to the fullest and committed to serving people who are living with AIDS/HIV like himself.
Each day for him is an interesting experience, albeit lonely at times, because he is isolated for the most part. He has gone through a lot of pain and suffering yet by the grace of God and with the love and support of his family, he is still in the midst. He is saddened that even until now, there exists so much ignorance and discrimination against people living with AIDS. Thus, he resolves to enlighten others by telling his story.
Take A Look Through My Eyes and witness the remarkable story of Dale Anthony’s battle with HIV/AIDS infection. Humanizing the experience of living with AIDS, this book traces the early days of his diagnosis: depression, secrecy, denial, treatment, prejudice, and ridicule. It also reveals his desperation and a suicide attempt that left him in a coma for seven days.
In his darkest hour, the pathetic utterance of a family friend and pastor said to him, “Get up Dale, because God has work for you to do yet!” And from those words began an extraordinary journey. Anthony then decided that he’d rather live with dignity than die with shame. See his miraculous rise from obscurity into the national spotlight through his personal declaration of his HIV. Through him, AIDS victims are given a voice as well as a source of inspiration and hope.
